Surprise Drinks: a brand site with mini-games for every licence
Surprise Drinks makes fruit drinks in a bottle with a licensed character toy hidden inside. A new Shopify site replaced the dated one. It presents the brand to trade partners and doubles as a games room that the QR code on the label leads to. I worked on it as a developer in the Appfleece agency team. The site does not sell anything yet; there is no store on it.

Starting point
The old site was dated. The brand deals mainly with distributors and retail chains, who need to understand the product, the licence portfolio and the flavours quickly.
The second audience is children. Every bottle carries a QR code, and behind it they should find games with the characters from the licence they are holding, with no sign-up and easy to play on a phone.
The project in the Appfleece team
- Site on ShopifyOne theme for the European and American versions of the site.
- QR code on the bottleThe label code opens the games directly, with no login and touch controls.
- Three games per licenceMemory, word search and jigsaw. According to Appfleece, 20 licences and 60 games.
- Colours per licenceEach licence has its own colour scheme, and the team adds a new one with a single admin entry.
- Three marketsThe EU for 27 countries in 14 languages, Poland with its own copy, and the US with its own licences and flavours.
- No appsThe games run inside the theme, with no third-party apps.
The scope of the whole project comes from Appfleece’s public reference and the live site. My own share is described separately below. Source: Appfleece reference: Surprise Drinks (checked 7 Nov 2026).
My contribution
- The brand site on Shopify: moving off the dated site, page structure and design.
- Mobile mini-games: memory, word search and jigsaw with move and time counters.
- Linking packaging to the site: QR codes on labels lead to the games for that licence.
- Licensed content: pages and game sets for individual licences.
- Localisation: language versions and markets.
From bottle to game
The journey the site serves most often has four steps. None of them needs an account or an app.
- 01BottleQR code on the label
- 02PhoneOpens the licence page, no app or sign-up
- 03LicenceThat brand’s colours and characters
- 04GameMemory, word search or jigsaw
- EU27 countries, 14 languageseu.surprisedrinks.com
- PolandA separate market with Polish copyeu.surprisedrinks.com
- USAEnglish, its own licences and flavoursus.surprisedrinks.com
How the mini-games work
- Every licence has its own hub with three games: word search, memory and jigsaw.
- Memory counts moves and time, word search hides character names in every direction, and the jigsaw has fewer pieces on phones.
- All three are played live in the second video above.
Working on something similar?
Send a short description of where the store is now and what it needs to do. I’ll go through it, ask what is missing and suggest a realistic next step.
